Patents
In Costa Rica, the patents and utility models are regulated by the Patent Statute (Law of Invention Patents, Industrial Drawings and Models, and Utility Models,) No. 6867 of April 25, 1983. Likewise, since August 03, 1999, our country participates in the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). Patents are valid for a non-renewable period of 20 years, and the registration of a utility model has a validity of 10 years.
